The Franciscan Association of The Brothers and Sisters of Penance of St.Francis (BSP) has a butterfly as its symbol. The Butterfly means the transforming union that we wish to attain, through a life of prayer, simplicity and self-denial. The BSP mottos are: 'Deny yourself, take your cross and follow me' and 'In the world, but not of it, for Christ'

OH, MIGHTY GOD, WHOSE SON IS OUR LORD,

HIMSELF SPRUNG BY YOUR SPIRIT SWEETLY FROM HER WOMB,

IMMACULATE CONCEPTION, VIRGIN BIRTH, PURE MARY,

WITHOUT STAIN BEFORE BIRTH, AND STILL, NO TOMB.

OH, GRACIOUS KING, A GREAT QUEEN YOU MADE HER,

AS YOUR LADY WOULD HAVE TO BE,

YET, HERSELF THINKING ONLY OF LOVE,

WHICH BOUND HER ALWAYS TO THEE.

OH, BRILLIANT LIGHT TO THE MODERN WORLD,

SON, RESPLENDENT, IN THE MORNING STAR,

NAMED AFTER HER WAS FRANCIS IN A LATER AGE,
